Golf in the Haute-Vienne and DordogneIf fly fishing isn't your thing and you are interested in playing golf during your stay, there are a number of options open to you :
Golf d’Essendéras: this is a nine hole, par 36 golf course and is probably the nearest to the cottages. It is situated in the fantastic Domaine d’Essendéras which has 2 chateaux, 400 hectares of land, of which 120 hectares is forest and 11 hectares are lakes. You can hire clubs and a trolley on site. The fee for a day’s golf is just 25 Euros and you can go round as many times as you like.
www.essendieras.frPerigueux Municipal Golf Course: is located on the banks of the River Isle. It comprises 18 holes with a small stream and other features that add hazards to the course. There is also a covered driving range, putting area, bunker and pitching area, pro shop, club house and of course a restaurant and bar. It costs around 48 Euros for 18 holes.
www.golfdeperigueux.comGolf de St Junien : this boasts an 18 hole course where you can just show up and play. The course offers lots of challenges such as water obstacles, tricky slopes and surprising dog legs. The green fees are around 45 Euros for 18 holes and 35 Euros for 9 holes. Equipment may be rented if necessary.
www.golfdesaintjunien.comGolf de Brive Planchetorte: Just 2 kms south east of Brive. It is an 18 hole course, par 71, with hills and water hazards. Day fee is around 46 euros for 18 holes.
www.golfdebrive.comGolf de la Porcelaine at Panazol is situated 5 kms east of Limoges in the valley of the River Vienne. It is an 18 hole, par 72, very undulating course with fabulous views all around. It can cost up to 61 Euros per day, so a bit more pricey than some of the others.
