Situated in the Haute-Vienne department of the Limousin, we offer rental of Le Petit Verger (The Little Orchard) to anyone wanting a quiet peacful relaxing holiday, a fishing holiday or house hunting venture. Or indeed, a mixture of all three.

Le Petit Verger is a self contained gite consisting of a kitchen /dining room with fully fitted kitchen and log burner. A bedroom with double bed(single beds available on request at no extra charge) and a shower-room with sink, vanity unit and toilet. All fixtures and fittings were brand new for 2005. Mosquito nets are provided should you require them for your comfort. We don't get many, but it only takes one!

A travel iron and hairdryer are also provided free of charge.

We provide you with a DVD player and TV ( just for viewing DVD's), OS maps of local areas, maps of the Haute Vienne, books to read and printed maps to local supermarkets and places of interest. We shall soon be offering Sat Nav too to help you find your way around.

If you enjoy coarse fishing, we can offer tackle hire at very reasonable rates (see our or pages), arrange for permits and provide detailed directions to the river/lake of your choice.

If you enjoy flyfishing, we also offer tackle hire and a comprehensive fly tying kit*, and library of books on the subject to sit in the sunny orchard and read at your leisure with a cool beer or two. * We make a very small charge for hooks, but materials are free.

We have a rear terrace with picnic table which is at the rear of the house in the open garden, which borders the small wood. In the early morning the terrace is bathed in sunshine for breakfasts, however during the afternoon the terrace offers a shady place to sit. Later in the day you can see the sun set behind the Champagnac hills. Here around the Charente, Dordogne/Haute Vienne borders were we get over 2000 hours of sunshine a year.

We can guarantee you a friendly welcome to this part of France. Life runs at a slower pace here. The local food is superb and the wines..........well you'll have to taste them for yourself.

The farmhouse and the gite " Le Petit Verger"are set in ¾ of an acre of fields with an orchard surrounded by woodlands with outstanding views across the river Tardoire valley.
We are situated just inside the village of Champagnac-La-Riviere. The village is small and very friendly and boasts its own Mairie, Boulangerie,Post Office and great local bar"Dinos" with Pizzeria and small restaurant. Dinos offers a wide range of value for money pizzas, to eat in or "Take Away", as well as bar snacks and meals in the restaurant. 3km away is the slightly larger village of Oradour-Sur Vayres. 4 km away you will find Cussac. Both of these towns have supermarkets, bars and restaurants etc.

Having only lived here since Sept 2004 we are still discovering the Haute-Vienne for ourselves. House hunters are very welcome as we can offer advice and help based on our experiences on buying property and settling into a home in France. We also have good relations with a number of local estate agents( immobiliers) Internet access is available upon request, although we do have to limit the time spent on the web the service is free.

We have a 4.5 metre plunge pool installed in the rear garden, to cool off when it gets to over 40 degrees in the sun.

We see the sun for most of the day whilst the rear terrace does offer shade for those hot sunny afternoons.

A BBQ is always available for your use. We have two pushbikes which you are welcome to use for no charge, but at your own risk.

We supply you with a set of boules for those summer evening as well offering an amateur archery outfit in 2008.

There are a great many local events throughout the year ranging from local french markets, through jazz concerts to our own local fete, Pig and Cider Day. We usually have all the information to hand for you in order that you can plan a weeks entertainment and excursions with very little trouble. Anything we can do to help, we will.
