St
Mathieu Lake is a 14 hectare lake surrounded by forest, however there
are many swims that are accessible with a fly rod.
It
is a category 1 lake so the season is limited from early March - 30
September.
The lake benefits from being well sheltered giving the visiting angler
a choice of little bays and larger stretches to cast a fly.
We have seen small perch, chub and carp in the lake.
You
can fish the lake with conventional coarse tackle if you fancy a change.
We have coarse and fly outfits at the house for rental if you wish.
With the recently introduced 1 day fishing permit for just 10 euros,
this can be an ideal day for everybody, as swimming is allowed in
the lake.
There is an artificial beach for those who may prefer not to fish,
and a beautiful walk around the lake.
The
bar and resturant pictured below is open most of the day and serves
some superb value for money meals.
Their
lunchtime "plat de jour" starts from around 10,00 euros
for three courses including wine!!
