As
you'll notice from our new address, we are not far from the River
Tardoire. This pretty little brook starts about 10 kilometres from
Champagnac-La-Riviere outside Chalus. It continues to wind its way
through the Haute -Vienne/Charente/Dordogne before vanishing again
underground in the Dordogne. There are various bridges that cross
the river throughout the region allowing the angler access to the
water.
We
have discovered some rather "fishy" stretches 12 mins
away from us, just into the Dordogne near Montbron. Local clubs
stock the river early season with trout from Chalus downstream.
As
this is a category 1 water, it is only open to anglers between the
second Saturday in March and 30th September. As can be seen by the
photos, the river can be difficult to access with a fly rod, however,
we do have a 6 ft AFTM 2 rod to use if you wish.
We
continue to discover this river and others locally, and will of
course update the site as we find good swims.
